New Public Works Facility 2021

On Town Meeting Day 2019, the voters of St. Albans Town approved an article to build a new Public Works Facility.  The Town had outgrown its facility on St. Albans Bay and needed a more centralized home in the community.  The Town purchased 70 plus acres in the 1980s on Brigham Road, and because of its central location to the community, the Selectboard decided to build the new Public Works facility there.

The new facility includes an 18,000+ square foot building that provides office space, a garage, and a wash bay constructed for about $3,500,000 of Local Option Tax revenue.  The facility also includes a 6,000 square foot salt shed, which cost about $900,000.  Of which, $376,000 was paid for by the Vermont Agency of Transportation, and the remainder coming from capital reserves, impact fees, and Local Option Tax revenue.  Connor Contracting, out of St. Albans, Vermont, was the General Contractor on the project.

The new Department of Public Works facility is built for our community to grow into.
